Plastics are everywhere, and there are many gaps in the path they follow from production to degradation. It makes up 80% of marine pollution. Plastic generally takes between 500-1000 years to degrade. Even then, it becomes microplastics without fully degrading.
PlastTrack aims to prevent further uncontrolled micro- and nanoplastic releases by delivering tools that track the path of plastic waste. We met yesterday to discuss and coordinate our work. Our experts come from Newtec A/S, GEOMAR Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel , Alfred Wegener Institut, CLEAN and SDU DaMBIC and SDU NanoSYD.
